Beekman Youth Soccer Club
Coaches and Directors
Travel, intertown, and U9/U10 in-house coaches - Sometimes it makes it exciting and fun when players see their names in the papers after the hard work they've put into a game. Parents like it too. The two local papers in our area are the Poughkeepsie Journal and the Voice Ledger, both of which have printed scores and pictures from the BYSC in the past. The Poughkeepsie Journal has typically published results and interest articles regarding youth soccer in the Players section on Thursday. The Voice Ledger is delivered weekly on Thursdays (to my house anyway).
The easiest way to have a score published from your game is using e-mail. You can e-mail the score directly to the Poughkeepsie Journal and the Voice Ledger. But if you e-mail it to Kate Sprague (unicornkate@frontiernet.net) from the BYSC communications committee, she'll check it over and merge it with other scores so they can be sent in together. We'll also record it here on the website if you send it that way.
Include the score, the opposing team, goaltender, scorers, and if you wish, assists and up to 3 other key players names. They need to be sent in by Sunday to get published in the Thursday papers.
Also, if someone takes an eye-catching (typically - action) digital picture well email that and it might get published too. Email photos to the secretary of the BYSC and I'll put them on the website if you want.
To help the coach, designate a team parent to do all this.
Thanks to Kate once again for getting the scores in for the past few seasons!
