What is Coerver Coaching?

A unique coaching program supervised by professionally qualified coaches, selected and trained to work with players of all ages and abilities. A fun step-by-step guide to improving individual techniques. Providing coaching whilst building up confidence in an enjoyable soccer environment. The more technical skills a player has, the better he or she is able to solve any problem. Coerver Coaching's teaching curriculum is based around the "Pyramid of Player Development".

Ball Mastery
Exercises where each player must work alone with a ball, high repetitions using both feet.

Receiving and Passing
Exercises to improve a player's first touch, so important at all levelsand to encourage and teach accurate creative passing.

Moves to beat a player (1v1)
Exercises and games that teach game winning individual moves that can create space amongst the most packed of defenses. Exercises that give players the confidence to attack.

Speed
Exercises and games that improve acceleration, running with and without the ball and changes of pace.

Finishing
Exercises and games that teach technique and encourage instinctive play.

Group Attack

HEAD COACHES:


Kieran McIlvenny

Currently Kieran is the Arlington HS Girls Varsity Coach. Kieran, a native of Ireland, has been coaching and playing soccer in the United States since 1986. From 1992-2005 he was the Director of Soccer Operations for Rye Youth Soccer, and from 1995-1998 he was the Boys Varsity Soccer Coach At Rye Country Day School. He joined the East Hudson coaching staff in 2002 as a Head Coach and has remained in that role. In 2004 he was invited to be a staff member of the State ODP Program, with the last 2 years as a head Coach. Kieran has played competitive soccer for most of his life, and holds both a USSF "B" license and the KNVB(Dutch Soccer Federation) Advanced Diploma. In 2010 Kieran was selected by The Mid-Hudson Soccer Official's Association as the 'Bill Garvey" Coach Of The Year for High School Soccer.

Rob Bruley

Rob Bruley is the director for Co-erver Coaching New York. He has worked with the Coerver Coaching method for the past 18 years. A semi professional player in England, he spent 8 seasons playing with one of the most famous non-league teams in the world the Corinthian-Casuals. After his player career he also coached at Corinthian-Casuals for 3 years. Rob is a English Football Asso-ciation qualified coach and has worked with Coerver Coaching throughout England, Japan and for the last 16 years in the USA. Rob has been a coach within the Lake Placid Soccer Centre, in helping to develop their day camps and coaching at their summer residential camps at Lake Placid and St. Lawrence University. He is currently working with many teams in the Mid-Hudson region developing their players using the Coerver curriculum.

David Mires - Goaltending Coach

Currently assistant men's soccer coach at Mount Saint Mary's College. Responsible for the daily training of all goalkeepers as well as preparing them with an effective pre-game warm up session. As part of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association ODP he is responsible for running an efficient, streamlined training session, keeping all participants active as much as possible, as well as making a succinct evaluation on each player's technical, tactical, physical, and psychological abilities within an 90-minute session. Also responsible for training the program's boy's goalkeepers in weekly functional sessions. David currently holds a NSCAA Goalkeeping Level III Diploma and a USSF National "D" Coaching License.
